Fracture Detection and Modelling – DNF & CFM

Problem:

Fractured carbonate reservoir field containing multiple wells and 3D seismic data. A new fracture model was required to better assist well panning and reservoir prediction.

Solution:

A number of clients asked ERCE to build either a Discrete Fracture Model (DFM) or Continuous Fracture Model (CFM). For these projects, ERCE carried out a comprehensive interpretation of the seismic data, together with detailed fault mapping and fracture identification. All data were integrated with petrophysical data, fractures from image logs, as well as production data.

A DFM or CFM was then constructed in close collaboration between our seismic interpreter, petrophysisist, structural geologist and engineers. CFM models are particular powerful as they allow a certain flexibly of the model that allows to integrate updates whenever new well data are acquired.

ERCE has expertise in seismic interpretation, structural geology, petrophysics, geomodelling and reservoir engineering. ERCE used a range of software like Kingdom Suite, Petrel, IP, and MOVE for this study.
