Coalbed Methane Evaluation

Valuing Decommissioning Deferral.

Onshore United Kingdom, operator required coalbed methane reserve estimation for several blocks within their recently acquired acreage.

Client had small in-house technical team and required geological mapping and petrophysical analysis in order to adequately estimate the gas in place within the remaining coal measures. Coal mining had previous taken place in some areas of the acreage and this needed to be factored into reserves calculations.

ERCE’s in-house geoscientists carried out a full geological mapping and petrophysical analysis of available 2D/3D seismic and vintage wellbore wireline.

Many vintage NCB plans and documents required scanning and digitising to enable a detailed picture to be complied of previous mining activity in the acreage along with detailed seam information critical to a successful estimation of gas-in-place.

We worked closely with the client’s team to incorporate their in-depth knowledge and experience of the coal seams in the area and deliver a final 3D model which could be used for reserves estimation and future well planning.

ERCE has extensive experience in both technical studies and Reserves & Resource auditing for unconventional resources. We draw upon our local and regional understanding as well as in house intellectual property to integrate varied datasets, adding value to your portfolio and build models and GIS datasets that can be used for varied purposes.
