Buffalo-10 Well, Carnarvon Petroleum

The Buffalo Oilfield was discovered by BHP in 1996, with first oil in 1999 and production ceased in 2004 after 20.5 MMstb produced. The field is located in the Buffalo PSC.

Project:

Carnarvon farmed in with Advance Energy to re-develop the field based on new full wave inversion technology (FWI) over existing 3D seismic.

Outcome:

ERCE undertook shallow geohazards and pore pressure prediction (PPP) studies to aid in the planning and execution of Buffalo-10.

Benefit

ERCE has extensive experience in fault and fracture analysis, risk evaluation and borehole planning and image log interpretation.

For each formation interval, ERCE identified hazards and provided a detailed formation description which allows the client to make informed decision while minimizing the risk.
